Our Academy

Uniform

Our school uniform promotes a sense of belonging, pride, and equality among all pupils. We are committed to ensuring that our uniform is affordable, inclusive, and practical, in line with current government guidance.

In accordance with the statutory guidance issued under the Education (Guidance about Costs of School Uniforms) Act 2021, schools “must have regard to” guidance designed to ensure that uniform costs are reasonable and provide the best value for money for families . This includes keeping branded items to a minimum and ensuring uniforms are widely available.

We also take account of forthcoming legislation within the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill, which is expected to come into force from September 2026. This will introduce a legal limit on compulsory branded items, with schools expected to require no more than three branded items (or four in secondary schools if one is a tie) .

Consistent with national guidance, we ensure that:

  • Uniform choices are cost-effective and accessible, and never a barrier to attendance or admission
  • Policies comply with the Equality Act 2010 and Human Rights Act 1998, avoiding discrimination
  • Parents have clear information about requirements and access to support, including second-hand options

Our approach reflects the Department for Education’s expectation that “the cost of school uniforms should be reasonable” and that schools prioritise affordability for families
