At Healing Primary Academy, as proud members of Harbour Learning Trust, we passionately believe that every child deserves an exceptional education that fully prepares them for a successful future.
In line with our Trust’s core vision and values for inclusion, we are committed to creating and sustaining an inclusive culture where every pupil—regardless of their starting point, complex needs, or background—is known, valued, and empowered to achieve their best.
Our Core Entitlement for Every Learner
We believe all children and young people are entitled to an education that enables them to make meaningful progress and thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. We ensure every pupil is supported to:
-
Achieve Their Highest Potential: Accessing high-quality, adaptive teaching that takes into account their varied life experiences, strengths, and personal needs.
-
Become Confident, Fulfilling Individuals: Developing resilience, positive mental health, and self-advocacy in a safe, nurturing environment.
-
Prepare for Successful Transitions: Building the foundational academic, social, and practical life skills needed to move seamlessly into secondary education and, ultimately, adulthood, higher education, or employment.
How We Put Inclusion into Practice
Our inclusive approach relies on four key operational pillars:
1. High-Quality Adaptive Teaching
-
Universal First Quality Teaching: Classroom teachers adapt delivery, resources, and learning environments so that the national curriculum remains accessible to every child without lowering expectations.
-
Reasonable Adjustments: Our classrooms are sensory-friendly spaces. We use a variety of strategies and tools including assistive technology, to proactively remove barriers to learning and participation.
2. Early Identification & Targeted Support
-
Responsive Monitoring: We track progress rigorously to identify emerging needs early, preventing gaps from widening.
-
Graduated Response (Assess, Plan, Do, Review): Where a child requires support beyond standard classroom adaptations, we create structured, outcome-focused SEND Support Plans in full partnership with parents and carers.
3. Broad & Balanced Experiences
-
Equal Access to Extra-Curricular Life: Every trip, club, sports event, and enrichment opportunity is planned inclusively so that pupils with SEND participate fully alongside their peers.
-
Holistic Wellbeing: We prioritise emotional literacy, pastoral care, and mental health interventions, recognizing that personal well-being is fundamental to academic achievement.
4. Co-Production & Specialist Partnerships
-
Working With Families: Parents and carers are true partners in their child’s education. Our staff ensure that they work closely with parents to directly shape a child’s support plan.
-
Multi-Agency Expertise: We work collaboratively with external specialists—including Educational Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Health Services—to deliver packages of support to ensure that every child is able to reach their full potential.
